Fans of Robin Cook will enjoy this author. Detective Track Presius is a genetic rarity, he is a Chimera. Track has the heightened senses of a predator.
What starts out as a missing person case quickly turns into multiple homicides and
genetic tampering. Can he solve the case and maybe figure out what happened to the children?
I found the premise of Track being a Chimera interesting. I have Hyper Sensitivity, totally not as cool as being a Chimera but you do have a heightened level of senses (and become over loaded by them, that is the sucky part). Track reminds me of Dexter a bit, just not as dark.
Satish steals the show in my opinion. Dude has all the best one liners and words of wisdom. I would find myself not only chuckling out loud in doctor offices but having to share the one liners as well. The best line of them all is one I plan on using whenever I can (Satish gets his wisdom from his dad). This particular piece of wisdom was handed to Sat in middle school, "They're all out there to fuck you and the only difference is that some use more Vaseline than others. Stick with the Vaseline son, it's pretty much all you can do." I actually spewed my drink out when I read that, it really ranks up there in best lines ever written.
Diane Kyle, super smart, sexy, and Track likes how she smells. You can feel electricity between the two of them and you find yourself rooting for them to realize it. Diane is the go to person for all things science, this chick makes me feel stupid but I like her anyway.
I was quite happy to discover that I can follow Track's story more in Mosaics.
