The Tourist Killer by FC Etier

Claudia Barry is an assassin, a successful one at that, and after this next job she's thinking that maybe just maybe it might be time to retire. She's good at what she does, and the people she kills aren't exactly up for Humanitarian of the Year. She's had a good run, there's even a man she might want to see after retirement. Barry is a complex woman with a deep, and I'm guessing dark, past that we get brief glimpses of which leave us wanting more. Can she truly retire? More importantly, will the people that hire her allow her to retire?
Dixon is not the main focus of this novel, but I dare you to walk away from this not wanting more of him. He comes off as quiet and unassuming but let me tell you, I want this guy to have my back. He's a bit mysterious because we know so little of his story but you trust him to do right. With a combination of these two characters and a plot twist I so did NOT see coming (I read a lot, not an exaggeration, just the truth. And I find that some authors follow a certain "formula" thereby allowing me to figure out what is going to happen ahead of time.) you will not be sorry you chose to read this book. I just need there to be a book number two.
