Elijah is a 17 year old human boy; he can create exquisite paintings with one caveat. He can only do them while he is in a fugue state, it doesn’t make for a promising career as a Creative but at least he has a Patron. Elijah’s mom is ill and as they are Legacy humans they can’t get a cure for her cancer which the Ascendants have. Humanity ascended many years ago, downloading their “minds” to a database. Those that chose to Ascend can change body forms, have heightened senses etc. The humans that chose not to Ascend doomed their descendants to a life without Ascension; they come to be known as Legacy Humans. The only way for a Legacy to ascend now is for that person to win the Olympics in his or her Creative category. Eli desperately wants to ascend, if he does he can not only save his mother but perhaps he could even be with his patron Lenora and both women are dead set against his going. With the aid of Marcus, Lenora’s Second, and Cyrus; Eli heads off to the Olympics where he soon learns that the competitors will do anything to win, even kill. To win Eli must learn to harness and control the fugue state, his mother’s life depends upon it. Can he survive? Will he learn to control his gift? Will Eli achieve his greatest desire? You really must read this book. I suggest you so before it hits the big screen, because I honestly think this one is gonna make it to the movies and I personally can’t wait!

The Legacy Human by Susan Kaye Quinn
Move over “Hunger Games” and “Divergent”, here comes the Singularity series. I could not put this book down; I had to plug my e-reader in to charge while I continued reading. Dinner? Ha, take out. Cleaning? A little dust never hurt anyone. As always Ms. Quinn paints us a work of art with her words that leaves us panting and wanting more. Her characters are always well developed, so much so that they can seem like family and friends by the time you finish one of her series.
